Academic studies are just one part of the complete university experience. When your labs are over and your homework assignments are complete, it’s time to explore campus life and the almost endless extracurricular activities available—many of which are unique to UBC Engineering students!
One of the best ways for Civil students to build their extra-curricular experience is to get involved with a Civil Engineering student group. With half a dozen Civil-specific competition teams and student chapters running, there's bound to be something for everyone! Additionally, students who have an idea for a new Civil Student Group are encouraged to form one. UBC Civil Engineering is seeking applications from new student groups who would like official departmental affiliation for 2020-2021. Fill out and submit the form below by September 15.

Living in Vancouver
All UBC students can take advantage of the beautiful natural setting of the campus and the surrounding city. Vancouver is a multicultural centre with beaches, mountains, majestic rain forests and spectacular gardens. The university is just minutes from the downtown core where visitors from around the world browse the shops of Robson Street or take time out to roller blade the perimeter of Vancouver’s 405 hectare (1000 acre) Stanley Park. Closer to home, you can hike through the old-growth rain forest in Pacific Spirit Park adjacent to UBC.
UBC Cultural & Recreational Facilities
The campus itself is home to state-of-the-art cultural and recreational facilities including the Chan Centre for Performing Arts, the Museum of Anthropology, and the Nitobe Gardens, as well as two weight rooms, a hockey arena, indoor tennis courts and a competition size aquatic Centre. The largest on-campus fitness facility, the UBC Bird Coop, is known nationally for its fun fitness alternatives, and its impressive mix of top-of-the-line equipment, services and programs, including year-round intramural competitions.
