NSERC Scholarship Awards for Graduate Students

The Department of Civil Engineering congratulates all new recipients of an NSERC scholarship award, and is pleased to announce a new development in graduate student funding that is intended to attract the brightest and the best to pursue graduate studies at the University of British Columbia:

NSERC CGS’D’ and Vanier Award recipient
Doctoral students who hold an NSERC CGS’D’ or Vanier Award should, in consultation with the Faculty Advisor for the proposed graduate studies, contact the Associate Head (Graduate Programs) to discuss opportunities for top-up funding on an individual basis.

NSERC PGS’D’ Award recipients
All full-time research-based doctoral students who hold an NSERC PGS’D’ Award will receive a GSI Top-Up Award of $ 6000 in all years that the NSERC award is held. Additionally, all full-time research-based doctoral students who hold an NSERC PGS ‘D’ Award will automatically receive a Tuition Award, of approximately $ 4000, from theFaculty of Graduate Studies.

NSERC PGS’M’ and CGS ‘M’ recipients
All full-time research-based MASc students who hold an NSERC PGS ‘M’ or CGS ‘M’ Award will receive a GSI Top-Up Award of $ 6000 in the year that the NSERC award is held. Additionally, all full-time research-based MASc students who have held an NSERC Award (PGS ‘M’ or CGS ‘M’) in the first year of graduate studies will receive a one-time GSI Merit Award of $ 4000, upon entry to second year in their graduate program.
