Dr. Patrick McGrath earned his BSc from University of Saskatchewan (1985) and his MASc (1989) and PhD (1996) from University of Toronto. Dr. McGrath is a practicing consulting engineer and is President of McGrath Engineering Ltd. A major component of Pat’s work involves research and testing for corporate clients on materials and projects from around the world. His practice also includes specialist consulting engineering services related to civil engineering materials and building science. Dr. McGrath’s primary research interests are in the areas of corrosion damage of reinforced concrete and chemical admixtures for concrete.

The structure and properties of common Civil Engineering materials: aggregates, Portland cement, concrete, asphalt, timber and metals. The emphasis is on the relationship between the structure of materials and their mechanical properties.
