Obinna Onuaguluchi joined the Department of Civil Engineering in March 2014 as a postdoctoral fellow. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Eastern Mediterranean University in 2012. At the University of Toronto, where he previously worked as a postdoctoral fellow, he explored ways to improve the properties of cement-based materials containing scrap vehicle tires and cellulose nanofibre. He will be investigating the possibility of using the water retention and desorption mechanism of pre-saturated cellulose fibres to enhance the shrinkage resistance, mechanical and durability properties of cement-based materials at UBC.
