Modern and advanced research facilities are available to graduate students in the Materials program. There is a 500 square metre laboratory devoted solely to materials research, as well as extensive testing facilities in the Structures Laboratory. There is also a state-of-the-art shotcrete facility. There has been a recent emphasis on the acquisition of state of the art NDT equipment, including Impact Echo, Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity, Acoustic Emission, Torrent Permeability, to name a few. Graduate students in the Materials program also have access to other analytical facilities which include both a transmission and a scanning electron microscope.
