Bureau of Intelligent Transportation Systems and Freight Security

The research mandate of the Bureau of ITS and Freight Security (BITSAFS) is to focus on the application of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) technologies in the area of goods movement.  Using techniques and tools such as simulation modelling, GIS, computer vision, and database systems, the Bureau's research seeks to promote secure and efficient freight movement through the country and across national borders.  The Bureau's office houses an ITS lab and the facility is used to educate civil engineering students in regards to ITS technologies related to freight movement.
