National Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC)
The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) is one of three federal agencies that provide research funding for university students, postdoctoral fellows and professors. Since 2003-2004, NSERC has invested $760 million in university-based research and training. NSERC funds research in the natural sciences and engineering.
NSERC administers several funding programs for graduate students:
- The NSERC Canada Graduate Scholarships (CGS) and Postgraduate Scholarships (PGS) programs offer funding to graduate students doing university-based research.
- The NSERC Industrial Postgraduate Scholarship (IPS) program provides support for graduate students who wish to gain research experience in industry.
The Department deadline for completed applications and supporting documents for the 2011-2012 NSERC Competitions is September 23, 2011.
