Overall objectives of project:
  • A comprehensive study of the static and dynamic structural behavior of two-and three-dimensional frame or panel assemblies, made with wood products, when under the effect of earthquake shaking or wind pressures.
  • The development of structural analyses for those conditions, and their implementation in computer programs for analysis and design.
  • Validation of the structural models using the University of British Columbia’s Earthquake Engineering Laboratory facilities, and by collaboration with the University of Clemson, S.C., USA, Civil Engineering Department's Wind Laboratory.
  • Reliability studies to implement the structural analyses into a performance-based design framework, with development of design software.
  • Formation of highly trained engineers on the structural analysis of wood buildings.
