Shake Table Tests Validation of FRAME:

The analytical model FRAME was used to predict the behavior of specimens tested on the University of British Columbia Civil Engineering Department’s shake table.

The following figure shows a column, supporting a mass M, connected at its base through an arrangement of dowels.  The following figures show a comparison of the predicted time histories for a six-dowel connection and two types of earthquakes: 1) Landers, California (1992) Joshua Tree Station, and 2) Kobe, Japan (1995).

More complete details on these tests are included in a Master's thesis by Mr. Ernie Wong, Department of Civil Engineering, University of British Columbia, November 1999.
