Analysis of 3-D Assemblies:

HYST and PANEL form the foundation for a static/dynamic three-dimensional structural model, PANEL-3D. This program may be used to study any spatial arrangement of shear walls, providing output which includes distribution of foundation forces and torsional deformations.

  

The figure above shows a three-dimensional structure consisting of a flat roof diaphragm and vertical shear walls. One of the walls may be missing, creating an opening.  The loading, as shown,  is a lateral force and vertical loads on the roof.

  

The figure above, to the left (click to enlarge), shows calculated push-over response for the structure with or without an opening. The figure to the right (click to enlarge) is the calculated response to a cyclic lateral load.
